Kilmacanogue is a small village in North County Wicklow situated at the foot of the Great Sugarloaf Mountain. It lies on the junction off the R755 to Roundwood and the N11, just 5km south of the Bray town centre. Many walkers come to visit the village on their way towards the nearby mountains.
The village of Kilmacanogue is fairly small, only having two petrol stations, a primary school, restaurant, post office, church, and pub. The local pub is the Pluck’s of Kilmac and Avoca Handweavers, (a destination in itself) offering gifts, fashion, books, gourmet food and a garden centre. There is also a restaurant within Avoca Fern House Café.
The nearest train station is in Bray and the village is served by Dublin Bus routes 145 and 45a.
Schools and Colleges
The local school is Kilmacanogue National School. Woodlands Academy is a nearby school in Kilcroney. There are schools in Bray, just a few kilometres away like St. Andrew’s National School, Loreto Secondary School and Scoil Chualann.
The Wicklow Mountains National Park is not far from the village and the Powerscourt Estate is close by. The Glen of the Downs Golf Club is located just a few minutes away in Coolnaskeagh and the Bray Golf Club.
